In September 2009 HP announced the Color LaserJet Enterprise CP4025 and CP4525 printers across Europe and Asia-Pacific, followed in November 2009 in North America, and in April 2010 in the Middle East. The multifunction version, the Enterprise CM4540 was released in October 2010.

Printers are OEM-rated for the same print speeds in both monochrome and color, with 35 pages per minute (ppm) for the CP4025 and 42 ppm for the CP4525. Duty cycles are 100,000 and 120,000, respectively. The CM4540 is listed at 42 ppm with a duty cycle of 175,000 pages.

Supplies include a separate waste toner collection unit (TCU) that is installed inside the printer. The TCU holds approximately 36,000 printed pages worth of waste toner and paper fibers wiped from the transfer belt before having to be replaced.

The printers (CP4525/CP4025) share the 8,500 page low yield black cartridge SKUs, as well as the 11,000 page color cartridge SKUs. The CP4525 also utilizes a 17,000 page high yield black cartridge. The CM4540 MFP’s 17,000 page yield black and 12,500 page yield color cartridges have different cartridge SKUs, but are nearly identical in design to those used by the printer models. All cartridges require a new chip for correct printer operation.
